Category: Let's talk
Hey everyone,
I am doing a bit of research and I wondered if you, or at least some of you, could help me
I know for a fact that a good few of you like radio dramas, and while I was at a friend's house a few weeks ago, the subject of radio plays came in to one of our conversations. We were both talking about how cool it would be if at least one of the Harry Potter books was dramatised.
There is a program on BBC radio 4 called Feedback, and I am thinking of writing in with the suggestion, but I was curious as to exactly how popular the idea would be, before I did anything about it.
What do we think?
Thanks,
Lou.
I think it would be great, and the bbc would do a really good job.
They did a fine job with the Tolkien trilogy, the "hitchhiker's guide" series and Ponokio, just to name a few.
Bob
o wow! I think it's an excelent idea!
Well, there've already been four Harry Potter films, so you could say the Harry potter books have been dramatised already, so they don't need dramatising again. However, they could record/burn the films on to CD or mini disk with a narator filling in the visual parts. The Goblet Of Fire DVD for example, actually has an audio-described version of the film and Diane Langford did a brilliant job with that, so I think the BBC just needs to turn the films in to radio dramas.
Yes, Bellatrix, but you could argue that the lord of the rings has been made a film too, and so has hitch hiker's guide. There are plenty of bits missed out in the films that a radio dramatisation would cover nicely, especially if it were to be made a serial as opposed to a 1 off play. Oh, and did I mention the narnia chronicles? They, or at least a couple of them have been filmed too. IMO, radio plays are in a catagory of their own!
Yeah, good idea.
yeah there's a massive difference between films and audio drama's. hp4 was the film that that to me seemed closer to the book than all the rest. they should do audio versions and i don't mean just with audio description. they did a very good job with lord of the rings in my opinion.
it would be cool, not to mention popular
i definitely say go for it! keep us posted on how it goes.
I would also think that it would go over well.
Hey Guys,
Thanks for your posts on this one. I've also put the same question to the BBC messageboards themselves to get a wider scope of people's different opinions, but if the idea takes off, I will most certainly keep you, as it were, posted! lol! Incidentally this little message doesn't in any way at all mean the end of the topic, keep posting, let me know what you think!
Hope you had a good weekend, I was up at half 6 this morning so am overtired! Oh well, never mind!
Lou.
I would love this idea, Lou. It really sounds good!!
After hearing the dark materials trilogy by Philip Poleman dramatized on BBc radio four, I'd think they'd do a great job. The lord of the rings dramatization was very good as well.
Not meaning to put a damper on this. Dramatisations on BBC Radio, are invariably abridged, due to the short time available to broadcast. Also it's a long shot but JK Rowling may not appreciate HP being dramatised without her permission. Good luck if it goes ahead. Smile
and who was implying that the BBC wouldn't ask permission of the author of the books...I don't think there was any implication of that at all
Ah but did YOU ask JK's permission she guards her precious Harry like a tigress.
Well Goblin, I would rather hope the BBC would ask her permission. After all, it would be they who were adapting the script, not me, lollol!
Of course the witch will be fine with it, more of your money for her!
hey I love the idea! :) hope they do it! :)
JK wouldn't need anymore money! lol, she's JK rolling in it already! see what i did there?
see, in all honesty, I don't think that it'll do anything for you louise. I mean, good luck to posting to them and all, but I think, that something like this might've already been brought up to them, and they might've asked her in the passed, and she might've said no. I for one, am sure, that this idea of dramatizing the HP series was not something new.
Still, good luck with it, Louise!
